  • because it was for english speaking audiences. the beginning was in german and it faded into english.

  • i felt that it was pretty authentic, why have subtitles? i mean just think of it this way, all the actors in the movie are actually speaking in german, and you understand and fluently speak german. i mean i dont see what the big deal is, i think its better that they didnt have "accents" because it would make it seem fake..because why would they be in germany speaking english with a german accent lol

  • @ronpaul2008rocks I thought it was interesting how the Romans in the near East would have spoken Greek and the Jews, especially in Jerusalem, would have spoken Hebrew or Greek as well. In any case, a version of Valkyrie with German spoken throughout would only work with German actors. Tom Cruise's credibility is hanging on by a thread as it is.

  • Hey BOJANGLES356,

ya I understand your point of view, If they had spoken in German it would have had a true German feeling. But then again, so many movies and stage production depict stories from other cultures. The purpose is always to tell a story first. I really enjoyed this movie. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that some had strong british accent while Cruise had an american accent. But if you are a good audience you quickly ignore this fact.

  • he is not a nazziiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Probably because it is an English language movie. (a joke). It is interesting because in Mel Gibson's movie about Christ, he had the Romans speak Latin and the Jews speak Aramaic (with subtitles, of course); I think it was pretty effective. I speak German but I have not yet seen the movie, so I'm curious to see how it works in English. The costumes and sets certainly look effective.

  • If you make me a movie about something like this, the Germans should be speaking German. You can subtitle it, it would feel much more authentic, but I guess the American audience wouldn`t like it?

  • nice review but i just dont understand why they ALL spoke english
