This video is made for the person that has never used blender and wants to do video editing with a free open source program that works on all popular operating systems.

The tutorial is about how to load two videos and then cross from one to the other and then render the results.

I am running the May 26, 2010 SVN version of Blender 2.5 Alpha

This video was made for my open source web site.

  • 2.5 interface sucks -.-

space robbing glossy shiny buttons and everything is big as hell.

in 2.49 i never needed to scroll, alot of functions are missing, shortkeys are bugged or missing, argh 2.49 is so much better,i dont want this cheap interface -.-

Remember that this is alpha. It is not beta, RC or final in any way. I have seen large debates on the dev list about how to improve the UI. It is a work in progress. The keys can all be remapped in 2.5. I also think (?) that they want to make the whole program skin-able.

  • Hi! Great video! Short but straight to the point. Hey, It looks like you work on a Mac, am I right? Because I'm very interested in the "little thing" that displays the keys you are pressing! Is that only for Mac?

    Thanks for any answer! Cheers!!!

  • @leandropolus

The little thingy is called Key-mon. My system is Kubuntu 10.04 but a bit custom.

    Take a look at this.

  • How do I get my blender vids to play in media player etc, cause I can't work it out. Please help =)

  • this sequence editor sucks

you have to use editing software

or else you will be done rendering 6 months after you are done with it

  • @MrDrPlatapus Did you choose an audio codec? For some reason, blender defaults to no audio. I usually go with mp3.

  • @commodore256 SAME HERE!

  • can somebody help me? I did all of this correctly, but when i play my animation, there's no sound at all. It's on AVI Codec and blender 2.58. In the preview, the sound is there, but after i tell it to animate the entire strip, there's no audio playing on the video
