In October 2002, NMCB-74 deployed to Guam, M.I. In December, Super Typhoon Pongsona struck the island. For the next month, we dug ourselves, the Naval Station, and much of the civilian population out of the devastation, restoring essential services.
In January, we redeployed to Kuwait, in preparation for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
On March 20, 2003, some of us - as part of "Task Force Mike" - ably commanded by CAPT Mike Rudich - an element of the First Marine Expeditionary Force Engineering Group (1MEG, or as it was affectionately known, "I and ME and a G") under the command of RADM Chuck Kubic - took part in the initial invasion of Iraq, remaining in-country until "the end of major combat operations."

This is a video record of our story.
