Joe Cocker performed by Gov't Mule! COCKER POWER 1971.

OSalty...this IS the Leon Russell arrangement he did for Joe Cocker. On the upside...this tells me you can use this arrangement without the horn section and the back up singers...BUT...check out the Leon/Joe version on Youtube...it smokes....the reason why Warren covers the tune. There is something to be said for having the idea first.

oh yes the letter
-
it's the Cocker version of course...but anytime you listen to Warren it's a treat....one badass picker and singer.

Wait...Get Up, Stand Up. My mistake.

So no one noticed Warren teasing Bob Marley's Lively Up Yourself in the intro?

anticlimactic cymbals are anticlimactic. Great band though

On this song, Warren's soulful voice makes the song sound very "Allman Brothers" to me at the start. I love this band.

Awsome version!

@hoybl 1st of the jam was panned to the pianist? Gotta admit tho', Matt Abts just is tearing the traps up! I woulda centered on him too!
I'm just saying I have seen cocker live not much to talk about. Now I have never left a Mule or ABB show dissapointed. Warren was born to play live. Bar none the hardest working musician out there.

What a cool rendition. One thing you can say about Mule is that they put their own signature on any song they cover. It's not like they are doing karaoke.
