the US is in a world empire with the rest of corrupt politicians around the world. This is because american civilians are protected in titanium walls and pampered, and said to never worry. In other words, most of us americans work and recieve money for our family and try to live a happy life, but we depend too much on our government.

You know what. I agree with you to some extent - it's just that in the 20th century, everything is more visual and thus is more likely to elicit "oh your poor little people" responses from people from the outside. The reality is that Indonesia is a fucking massive country with a massive and diverse population meaning that process of nation building and unification was always going to be difficult and yes (like any other massive country) oppressive at times.
