Haiti once a beautiful country build form the ground up by Haitian's hands and from Haitian's enginuity. In a matter of seconds the country was reduced to rubble due to an earthquake which almost completely destroyed its 200 years of history.

We are Haitians and we are a very proud nation even though the world consider us to be extremely poor, but like we always say being poor is not an insult and all we ask for is a little respect. We are very appreciative of the help that we are getting from the world and without that help who knows what would happen to Haiti, we are looking forward into moving in a new direction with the world on our side.

It is my duty as a Haitian citizen to let my people and the rest of the world know the true beauty of a country once called the pearl of the Caribbean.

Haitians have suffered a horrible negative stereotype and we have struggled for years to get out from under an overwhelming system of oppression.

Haiti is a very complex country and most of us see this catastrophe both as a nightmare and also as an opportunity for Haiti and the world to finally come together as one. We are one world and racism should be a thing of the past!

I hope that the media will be a little bit more sensitive and will give Haiti a little bit more respect, that's all.

  • PridesofHaiti,

you express exactly what I feel each time I see the reports with the usual cliches.

I came back from a 4 weeks stay in November and witnessed all the improvement and hopes for the future.

I still can´t believe that all our hopes are now buried in this chaos.

  • We need to restore pride in the Haitian people specially the diaspora although it almost seems impossible. A terrible thing happened in Haiti, a natural disaster where hundred of thousands people perished in a matter of seconds. The media need to be more sensitive in their coverage, all I see right now is that the media is making an already bad situation worst by reducing the integrity of the Haitian people and we the diaspora must step up and ask for it to stop.

  • In this video I have shown just a few beautiful houses and they are thousands of more houses to show. The media is only covering the slum of Haiti and showing the poor dirty people going up and down in the street. Haiti already have a very bad reputation in the world and with this disaster and the kind of coverage that we are getting we will have nothing left but shame. We need to start writing the news media and ask for a balance coverage because Haiti does not only consist of slums.

  • WELL OF COURSE, THEYR GOING TO SAY THE NIGGER'S ARE THE LOWEST... THEY REALLY ARE U KNOW...? THEY ARE UNDER A CURSE FROM THE MOST HIGH...

  • These shots must have been taken at at pétiiionville or cayes.

Port au Prince, dont have alot of places pretty like that

  • haiti was prettier than the USA

  • wow haiti is/was beautiul

  • @oliwood82 yup,you right and my mom town too les cayes.alot of people do think the whole haiti is slums, your right.thats cause thats all the media show.

  • @thermiscira i agree as well, if they show the bad and the good that would be fine with us, the fact that they are showing the slums stop the tourism from coming and invest which could have be a plus for the poor because they can come and invest and create jobs for the poor that's if they were showing our beautiful beaches hotels and naturals resources, they need to show: Jacmel, jeremie, cap haitien, petion ville, delmas, belle ville, laboul, fermat, tabarre, gressier to name a few .

  • @oliwood82 i agree with you but there are haitians who are not suffewring so bad like sum of the people who lives in the slums, those are the haitians saying we dont need no help, thats because they dont need help but the people in the slums do need help.

  • @thermiscira...well by that they have american people think that the whole Haiti is a slum...i know this American guy who said Haiti is all slums, thats because they only show downtown port au prince...maybe they should show the beautiful places in Haiti, that would be helpful for the tourism to come and invest and create jobs, but if you are only showing that we are all about slums no one will wanna come and invest in our country like the arabs, chinese, italians and much more do it in the US.

  • so sad to think that most of the places in these photos are gone :(

  • I know this is sweet micky, but what's the name of this song?

  • i went to haiti in 2007 and it was'nt so bad at all off course there is poverty but there is the good side

  • as a haitian american i dont think it matters that they sayhaiti is the poorest,i dont think they mean haiti is ugly ,they are talking about how the poor people are suffering while the people who has money in haiti dont care about the poor people .most haitians would agree with me.theres nothing wrong with being poor .jesus walked with the poor.alot of rich people are evil.

  • it still is... and its gna be better than it ever was before

  • The people of Haiti need to start making things happen instead of waiting for things to happen to them. That is all I am saying. Peace.

  • Haiti is definitely a beautiful place with amazing scenery. The culture is rich and the people are proud. I only wish the best for your county's future but let's be honest. Many things didn't add up even before the quake. The quake was a natural disaster but couldn't have many deaths been avoided with better building standards? Why is there not enough to eat with such good land? With such natural beauty, where are the tourists? Why are most nice houses surrounded with walls?

  • Your a true Haitian to bone.you show these people who have been watching the Media and thinking thats how our Country is.we need Media that will start showing the beauty of the big best Haiti.im so peoud of my Haitian roots.

  • it was really a beautiful country

  • Haiti has always been put down by the international press. You have to remember that Haiti caused what used to be the slave owning countries a great loss due to the Revolution. The "slaved owning countries" vowed to punish Haiti as long as it can. France even said that they would never build on the ashes of the colonists. To Mariposa: Hope is never lost. Haiti need to decentralize. The capital should be rebuilt somewhere else otherwise it would take too long to rebuild PAP. Peace!

  • @youngmiller31 sweet mickey. lol

  • I just went to Saint Martin. It looks a lot like Haiti. All those islands are beautiful.

  • I found out that the media does the same thing when it covers Africa! I love this video and thanks for showing the very beautiful buildings and houses. I hope this beauty is spread all over Haiti and not just centralized in Port au Prince!

  • Great video. Haitian pride! Respect! They seem to think the poorest country in the West is like the poorest countries in other regions with nothing of value! We are aware Caribbean leaders have been meeting to agree setting up a Fund for Haiti. The diaspora must work to do as much as possible! Irie!

  • I hate the Haitian president...
