So, if lack of belief (atheism) is a theology/religion, does that mean that because I'm not smoking I have a habit? :)

Why must people be so obsessed wether there is an afterlife or not? I understand that people fear dying because its the unknown. But heres the simply truth, It cant be proved. So then you can spend your life looking for whats there and if theres something there then well done congrats. If not then you have wasted your life pondering it. Just live your life as it is. Enjoy the life you have. It might be your only one.

"Atheism" so called obviously presupposes an awareness of "theological claims" of one sort or another; and points to their rejection.
In that sense, I could agree with Prof.Anton's labeling of FORMAL atheism "a theological position" - though I think an even more accurate thing to say would be that it is "a position about theology."
The "grace of sages" is overcoming the ROOT of animism and it's many offspring (re. world religion) - false inferences about ourselves. Bad anthropology, etc.

Tell your self a pretty story to sate your need to know, if you like. Take that philosophical opium. The wiser and mentally stronger of us aren't afraid to acknowledge we don't know everything and live with that fact.

There are individuals (e.g. feral children) who have no god concept, they're atheist too. The rest of us no doubt do wonder about our origins at some point or another. But only the fools think "Yes I've discovered the truth", based on the fact they like the way a particular story goes or because it makes 'sense' to them or fulfils certain basic psychological needs, lacking any real hard evidence to verify it as any real form of 'truth'.

That's dumb dude. Atheism recognising itself as a religion is contrary to what it actually advoates, and would implode, just like all theism eventually do.

i have a question just one simple question, to counteract that retarded suggestion, when next you meet an atheist ask them WHY they do not believe. LOL" atheism should be a the kind of theism". Get the fuck out of here

What would be the theological or moral motivation for Christians to be vegetarian?
Earthly life is delimited and given value by mortality. I know of no Christian who would contest this. If the song ends and your individual consciousness with it, what was the point of delimiting the experience to give it value?
What about the person who has never come in to contact with the concept of the divine? What is their postition on God?

I've never met that person. Does the person ever wonder about the stuff and why is is here?

Somewhere around 2:20 you imply that "theology" encompasses all the ways we contextualize our lives and the meanings we give to them, whether or not those involve belief in god.
Can't agree with that. I'm an "atheist" in the sense that I have no belief in god. I'm an "agnostic" in the sense that I'm humble enough to understand the limitations of my knowledge and admit of the possibility that I might be wrong. How does either amount to "theology" in the sense that we use that term?

My belief is that speaking animals are, defacto, theological animals. We're stuck with transcendence as out being. Our only recourse, then, is to what we ought to mean by God or the gods, or the ultimate ground of being, the mystery that we are. To say, just out of hand, that you dismiss what is yet to be defined sounds very dogmatic, just as dogmatic as someone believing in fantasy, happily-ever-after," divine intervention and afterlife justice and the like.
