http://www.yctv.tv/ottawa/ - The Rideau Canal Waterway, which links the lakes and rivers between Ottawa and Kingston, is the oldest continuously operated canal in North America. The locks are operated today much as they were when first opened in 1832. Many locals and visitors enjoy the breathtaking scenery as they run, bike or stroll along the canal. The Canal Waterway is also a boater's paradise, attracting pleasure boats from across North America to travel its 202-kilometer or 125-mile length. In the winter months, a section of the canal officially becomes the worlds largest skating rink, equivalent to the size of 90 hockey rinks. The Rideau Canal; a National Historic Site of Canada, consists of a series of beautiful lakes and rivers connected by canals. Located near Parliament Hill, it is arguably the most scenic waterway in North America. Whether you visit by boat, car, bicycle, canoe or on foot, the Rideau has something for you.

  • Ottawa is such a awesome city to live in!

  • I live in Ottawa...it is a truly beautiful city

  • When I went to Ottawa I was amazed how gorgeous the scenery was. I walked along the canal and also had a tour of the canal on a a ferry as shown. It was great. I can't wait to go back in the summertime.

  • I didn't realize how European Ottawa was. The views of the canal and the cyclists seem very relaxing and fun. It reminds me a lot of Paris.

I'll have to visit my next trip north, because I love to skate and ski...or take a nice ride along the canal.

    Well done video!
