Not just through the PHYSICAL aspects--in fact that is the least important. Through seva, meditation and bakthi can burn the root and with Divine grace you can be free.

@shoshinzero well, Padmasana isn't really extreme stretch for your knees when you mastered other asanas like Janu Sirsasana C, Marichyasana B,D, Vatayanasana and many others Kino is able to do. So it's not a problem at all.
