  • Above all, Ball Four is a very funny book. It is well written and hard to put down. At the end of this video segment, a bitter and jealous Roger Kahn says Ball Four isn't worth much as literature. Yet the book was selected as one of the 100 most important books of the 20th century. As professional a writer as Kahn is, he isn't as naturally entertaining as Bouton, and he may not be as talented a writer, either.

  • Bouton was an arrogant elitist. He clearly saw himself as being above all the baseball guys he ripped in the book. That's why he has never been allowed back.

  • Kuhn and Kahn are form another era, and they don't get Ball Four. IThe book has it's place in baseball culture and American culture. Never gone out of print. Most of all, every word in it is the truth.

  • Screw Kuhn.

  • Best baseball book ever!!!
