Here's a tribute to the most wonderful piece of technology flying around in space in a low Earth orbit: the International Space Station.
Currently on board (November 2010) are:
Douglas Wheelock (Commander)
Shannon Walker (Flight Engineer)
Alexander Kaleri (Flight Engineer)
Fyodor Yurchikhin (Flight Engineer)
Oleg Skipochka (Flight Engineer)
Scott Kelly (Flight Engineer)
I have also added a few pictures I took through my telescope. Enjoy the video, feedback is appreciated and remember: subscribe for more astrovids!

The only pictures I own are the ones I took through my telescope. All the other pictures are mainly from NASA and Wikipedia.
The short animations were recorded by me using Celestia.
The music was made by Steve Jablonsky. Title: My Name Is Lincoln
Movie: The Island

I used AVS Video Editor to create this video.

Details of the telescope I used to take pictures of the ISS:
""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Omegon Telescope EQ2 Mount (Newtonian Reflector)
Focal Length = 920 mm (= 36 inch)
Mirror Diameter = 130 mm (= 5 inch)
Focal length used eyepiece:
10 mm (= 0,4 inch)
Magnification: 92x
No filter used

  • things like that, makes me proud of being a human. thanks and good job!

  • @lucianmop It sure does, thanks for commenting : )

  • this is really good man

  • @potatogrower But outdated. Thanks for your comment and for favoriting one of my videos : )

  • Inspiring video! Fantastic job on the ISS, my mount cant keep up with that thing, I have tried and failed every single time so far. However if they were to start building something like the deathstar or enterprise, I would surely have a chance.

  • @TelescopeAtNight Thanks, but I'm going to make a new one. This video is outdated. Most of the crew members in this video are no longer aboard the ISS. The new video will be almost the same, except that there won't be any expedition patches or crew members in it anymore. This way, it will probably take years before it's going to outdate.

  • @krisDM3000 how on EARTH did capture the ISS with a digital camera and a telescope with no tracking?! you are incredibly lucky! great job!=D

  • @SaturnAndItsRings Thanks man : ) Good to know that. But it's outdated now. I'm going to make a new video of the ISS with this music, but not with the expeditions. Simply some general information.

  • i hope no one dislikes this because it is great!
