Richard Dyer-Bennet (1913-1991) was the only traditional singer to be represented by the legendary impresario Sol Hurok, who proclaimed him "The 20th Century Troubador."

Here he sings the great American song, "The Lonesome Valley."

Here's a link to my Dyer-Bennet playlist: http://www.youtube.com/user/kadoguy2006#grid/user/F6289AE684937057

For a good read, I recommend a biography by Paul Jenkins titled: "Richard Dyer-Bennet: The Last Minstrel".

  • Every bit as poignant as any other version I have heard but from a completely different place.

  • More, more! He was so beautiful. Thank you for taking the trouble to post.
