I apologize for the dogs snoring. It was my chance to make a video. Beside that, I think Shawn put them to sleep with his 11 min video.

  • There is actually a group called the "primative Baptists" and their churches are very plain and drab with no gold or even carpets sometimes. I grew up next to one so that is how I know about them, but they are probably the only example.

  • @rednecktrucker1969 They still need a place to worship. Why does the building exists at all?

  • Even if religious people met in dirty huts you would find a reason to complain. You do realize that people get married and baptize their babies in the church too, right? So why not provide a beautiful,(your word), place for the members?

  • @stonedcommander My point in all of this is why is there a place that requires everyone to gatherand give money to upkeep it? If someone who is religious says," I have a personal relationship with god" then you can worship in your own home. No money or large buildings required.

  • @theatheistgal Exactly. Or use some sort of communal gathering place in a park, or WHY.

  • I wonder if Shawn's god can build a straw man so big that even he can't knock it down.

  • @stonedcommander Because it's not beautiful for beauty's sake. It's a statement of money and power in many cases. It's "This is what we do with the money you really can't afford to give us (well, that and my new house and Jag).

2 Samuel 7:4-6 - look it up and get god's opinion of buildings for "his glory"

  • Not to mention the huge mansions these religious leaders live in. Rick Warren one time said, and I forget the exact numbers, that he gives away 90% of his profit to charity, which is a wonderful thing. Still, 10% of 30 million dollars, which is roughly what he made on his book Purpose Driven Life, is still a damn nice paycheck. This isn't even including the money he's made off of other books and lectures.

  • @onlywhenprovoked he just said that in this video..
