India's Sikhs still fighting for justice

It has been nearly 30 years, but the families and survivors of 3,000 Indian Sikhs killed after the assassination of prime minister Indira Gandhi, are still seeking legal recompense for their losses.

There are still five cases in the Indian courts, but those fighting for justice through prosecution fear a lack of legal action against the murders will only embolden future massacres.

The Congress Party, including its Sikh prime minister, have apologised three times for the 1984 killings, but the victims and their families, continue to press for legal action against the perpetrators.

Al Jazeera's Sohail Rahman reports from New Delhi.

@SJJGautham08 Your right that Pakistan (not pakistani people as it was the "government/army") shouldnt forget the wrong doings that they did in Bengladesh. But that does not mean that what the Indian government did is right. You shouldnt ever try to hide a bad thing done by one person/government by blaming something else on a different person/government. You should talk about 1984 and Bangladesh and not try to hide anything and ask both (or any) government for JUSTICE.

I find it ridiculous that Pakistanis claim India to be a fascist state because of the thousands of deaths in 1984, when they forget what happened 13 years earlier in 1971, in Bangladesh. THREE MILLION Bengalis were slaughtered by the Pakistani army and paramilitaries, and half of them were Hindu. Such hypocrisy.

Sikhs contributes; * 33% of total income tax * 67% of total charities * 45% of Indian Army * 59,000++ Gurudwaras serve LANGAR to 5,900,000+ people everyday & All this when THEY make only 1.4% of the total INDIAN POPULATION. but still they are facing problems in hindu kingdom
