A classic song, and as you said, a great version. My parents were more into the Motown sound but these remixes from '86 were more my thing. If you haven't already, check out the 'Better Days Version' (I've added it as a video response).

After years of listening to this song, I've recently found out that MFSB provided the instrumental for this track. The music nerd in me should have recognized the distinct MFSB TSOP sound. Flew right over my head!

Happy to know I'm not the only music nerd out there ;)
Thanks once again for the insightful comment.

Absolutely one of the greatest and underrated disco joints in the history of dance music. I was the first person to blog the comparison and contrast between Gaga's and Bean's version, and Madonna's "Express Yourself" when Gaga's debuted. Do a Google search today and you will find articles about who ripped off whom even though Bean covered the song himself.

You're probably responsible for this post getting so many views, so thank you.
I've just read Carl Bean's autobiography, one interesting, at times shocking, and always moving book. I can recommend it to anyone who's open minded.

@houzbizness303 I've heard about Bean's autobiography not too long ago. I'll most definitely have to put it on my must read bucket list. Many thanks for the recommendation!

It's an easy but moving read. It surprised me that a minister of the church could be so honest about his, at times, shocking past. It's not sensationalized just honest. Enjoy.
