very basic exercise in digicel flipbook, my very first trial in animating using that software and tablet (sorry for wobbly drawings- im trying to learn control). It feels strange as Im use to drawing on paper till now, however tablet save wasted paper and pencils and space in the room of course :)) so I guess is worth suffering at first, to slowly improve (hopefully).

  • i'm importing scanned drawings. how do you get the background to not mesh with the animation? my background is showing through my characters!

  • @MicahBuzan I have imported the main background into the 1st cell of background layer in flipbook, then it automatically gets set for the whole animation. I then drew the wobbly frame by frame on the separate layer so it doesnt interfere with b-ground.I hope that helps, and if not, then its worth contacting digicel guys, I rarely use flipbook for complete animations, I find after effects easier and more accurate. besides u can play with transparency and opacity there too :)) good luck

  • GREAT JOB! like the background.

BTW, i'm in the same position you are - just started using digicel (just got my intuos tablet about 4 weeks ago), and yeah I'm loving it! Finishing up my 2nd animation now (my first one was a stick figure walking - was just testting out the program). Good job again, keep it up!

  • @glitch2424 thankyou for your comment. Animation is fun isnt it:)) Btw I have now done many more animations so please have a look at my profile page. Good luck with your work, hope it goes smoothly.

  • Is this good for computer as well? Or do u need a drawing tablet? Personally, I would like to make animations and I need really good (maybe free) animation software

  • @TheVidMaker99 I personally like traditional animation, thats why I chose Flipbook- its very easy to use and gives effects similar to hand-drawn animation, which YES you would need a tablet for to control. If you are interested in CGI, then I would say maya is the best- but also quite costy. If you like 2d effect but also like simple and fast results without need for drawing every frame- then Flash or After Effects are best. Good luck

  • @BasiaOwczarek thank you for the reply. i think I'm going o purchase flip book (the 260 $ version) as i don't have the funds to afford after effects and i know a lot of well respected animators recommend it. one things for sure, animation is going to be hard no matter what program one has. thanks for the help! and keep up the good work.

  • @fllashero hi yes that was very first trial with tablet and flipbook so line is all over the place lol, Ive uploaded new line tests so please have a look and tell me your opinion, those are more carefully planned :))
