The Byzantine Empire is a very overlooked Empire in History. It lasted for nearly 1500 years and survived many crisis in its long span. It defended Europe from the Muslims for hundreds of years before the first Crusade. Unfortunately after hundreds of years of constant battle with the Persian Empire and the loss of its rich subjects Eygpt it went stagnant and was overwhelmed by the Turkish Seljucks.
