Dr. Heinz-Josef Lenz is an expert on cancer, especially colorectal, esophageal, gastric, pancreatic and liver cancer. A professor in the departments of medicine and preventive medicine in the oncology division of the Keck School of Medicine of USC, he is also associate director of clinical research at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, chair of the GI Oncology Program, co-director of the Colorectal Center and scientific director of the Cancer Genetics Unit. Dr. Lenz co-chairs the Southwest Oncology Group's Gastrointestinal (SWOG GI) committee, is chair of translational medicine for the SWOG GI committee, and serves as a member of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) GI Steering Committee and of the NCI translational medicine committee. He serves on several editorial boards as well as on national and international advisory boards. He has published more than 120 peer-reviewed papers and holds over 20 patents on molecular markers.
