But I didn't. Terrorism was very much in the news and NONE of the terrorists EVER cited "Iran, 1953" as a reason for the SOCIOPATHIC, Communist-inspired sickness called "terrorism." Yet, the same perverts now attempt to re-write history! Not this time.

  • The Shah was the monarch in Iran, but they had an elected prime minister. Mossadegh threw out the english oil company, now BP, and used the oil companys profits for the benifit of the government and its people.

the UK went to H Truman, but he refused to be a part of the coup, he approved of the PMs nationalizing of the oil company. So as soon as Ike was in office they got him on board by telling them Iran could become a "communist" state. which was BS. out with elected leader, in with dictator.

  • Your analysis sounds reasonable to me -- except for your skepticism about communist influence in Iran. There was, and is, a large body of communists in Iran. Secondly, I seem to recall Ahmadinejad and Putin sitting down together in Tehran and (believe it or not) YALTA in the Ukraine. Duh.

  • Are you sure you weren't sleeping through the 70s??

Let me remind you that it was during this time that the US installed the Shah as leader in Iran, Iranian people then deposed the shah, and then Iranian People took Americans hostage for years

    REMEMBER?!?!?!

    Ron Paul '08

  • It was 1979. I watched it on TV in the lobby of my college dorm.

And your "facts" are far from the truth. The shah was leader of Iran BEFORE 1953. He was a harsh dictator, true. Khomeini hijacked the Iranian revolution and created a regime ONE HUNDRED TIMES WORSE than that of the shah (thanks to Jimmy Peanut Carter, perpetual screw-up from Georgia).

  • And look, it took you 5:19 to explain your position. Congressman Paul doesn't get 5 minutes to explain his position in the debates or in the media; he gets about 15 seconds before the host interrupts him. You know how it is. The media has no appreciation for history. But please know that Paul is not proposing blowback as an explanation for all world terrorism, throughout history.

  • Ron Paul was giving one example of blowback. His example was that the overthrow the democratically elected Mossadegh and US support for the oppressive Shah led to the Iranian Hostage Crisis, which is very true. He never said the 1953 coup was the root of all terrorism! That is only one of a plethora of US missteps in the Middle East.

  • "Mossadegh's suicidal policy is a measure of the hatred of the West - and especially the hatred of Britain - in the Near and Middle East." (Quotes from Time, 1951.)

  • Not their puppet but the effect was the same. From Time magazine1951 "There were millions inside and outside of Iran whom Mossadegh symbolised and spoke for, and whose fanatical state of mind he had helped to create. They would rather see their own nations fall apart than continue their present relations with the West.

[Mossadegh] intends to stick to his policies even though he knows they might lead to control of Iran by the Kremlin.

  • I seem to recall Israel doing false flag terrorism in the King David Hotel bombing in the 40's, the Lavon Affair in the 50's, the USS Liberty in the 60's, & the Entebbe hijacking in the 70's. All those incidents are now publically disclosed facts. Meaning that those are just the ones they got caught at.

  • Okay, I even agree with some of your points but you twist and shave truth off to make invalid assertions- the assertion that the Shah had power in Iran prior to 53 is accurate- Iran was at that point a fledgling country after years of Western rule, following years of Ottoman rule. But the movement to nationalize Iran's natural resources was the reason that his political regime was supported from within by the CIA. This kind of intervention always sparks lasting resentment.

  • Ron Paul Won Tonight With 32% On Fox Text Messages. Ron Paul !!!!

  • Let's recap: Carlos was educated in the USSR but trained in Jordan & was not a typical terrorist, nor did he blow himself up; bin Laden hates America because we denied him his Holy War & his wealthy united Arab oil monopoly which could extort the West- and then we set up permanent military bases in his homeland to boot; Billy Waugh is a real life GI Joe; RP understands the rat's nest in the Middle East & wants us out; and don't talk down to someone who has done far more research than you have.
