part 3: I have been to see an ENT and had them look up my nose with some kidn of apparatus they have told me I have rhintis my nose is swollen and inflamed and that is the cause of my problem. Why then does the buteyko method not work for me? And why does the method not have any advice for people in my situation maybe I am just a freak but there must be more than just me.

Part 2: I forcefully kept my mouth shut for hours as well as pinching my nose at regular intervals keeping my mouth shut the whole time. And I cannot unblock my nose and make it anywhere near reasonable to breathe through. I have held my mouth shut for hours breathing through a nose which is extremely close to being completely blocked.

Clear concise explanation of the problems faced daily of an asthmatic, and the ineffective way it is treated by the National Health Service. Buteyko's Method is simple logical and works extremely effectively.
part 1. Thanx a lot of the reply fuzzymike2 I read it 5 days ago when you actually posted it. I understand what your saying but every buteyko source of information I have come across basically states that the nose unblocking exercise is full proof and it seems that it is basically the foundation for the whole method. Like without this exercise working the method cant really work because a person would simply be unable to switch to nose breathing.

Hi gene101303 again! Don't give up on your efforts. The key to success is reduced volume of breathing which is easier to achieve through nose breathing but even reduced breathing with the mouth will help improve your health, also the nose cleans, filters, moisturises, warms the air and kills most of the bugs we inhale.

Hi gene101303, sorry to hear the problems youre having nose breathing. The Buteyko Method is about reducing the volume of air we breathe, quieting our breathing through relaxation. Don't give up on the nose breathing, if you havent normally nose breathed in the past it may take a while for your nose to get used to this new work, meanwhile try just quietening your breathing whenever you can through relaxation. Don't push yourself too hard, that won't work. Ideally try to see a Buteyko practitioner

I have to say it is funny watching you breathe through your nose whilst you talk. Looks a real struggle.

Hi Oasarse! I like your comment! Yes you're right it does seem odd breathing through the nose initially but it soon becomes easy - give it a try! Shut your mouth, Breathe through your nose & live a long healthy life!
