Re-posting Part 1A of Countdown '86, because the audio got muted in the original post. Please see video for details on the "Copyright Notice". I tried to find a Sheena Easton song, but I couldn't find one that worked!!
The last Countdown presented by SOLID GOLD. This year's Countdown was NOT a 2-hour special featuring the Top 40 songs, but two 1-hour weekly episodes presenting the Top 20 songs of 1986. Hosted by Marilyn McCoo and the SOLID GOLD DANCERS.
Anyway, please remember to SUBSCRIBE, RATE, FAVORITE & COMMENT if you enjoyed this video. THANKS FOR WATCHING!!

  • Strange that in the opening that they are showing clips of performers from the earlier seasons. What's up with that?

  • Because they made this special up of all previously aired material. Only a couple of the dancers numbers were taped specifically for this Countdown special.

    Very disappointing!

  • Great work Jeff!! Excellent video quality. This must be from 1987 (Season 7)? I don't like the demphasis on the individual dancers. In the first six seasons even when the dancers were in groups the choreographer still emphasized each individual dancer. And the outfits are downright matronly, with the shoes almost flats. Darcel would never have gone for this!!

  • Yes - this is Solid Gold '87 and the last year they had a Countdown special. The last year Solid Gold in Concert had no such year end recap as any mention of the top songs during the show was eliminated.

  • well the quality is very in image and sound

  • Thx!

  • The announcer(Charlie O'Donnell) passed away in November 2010. RIP Chuck.

  • Marilyn looks fantastic here, not that she doesn't always, but I didn't even recognize her.

  • I'm gay, and I would rather watch the women dance with less clothing like in '80-'85 (-: They were beautiful and gr8 dancers: Darcel, Pam, Kahea, Debra, etc.

  • Great choice for a replecement song here, but could you maybe have tried to find another song from 1986 in place of "Papa Don't Preach" instead of "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", which came out in 1983?!!!

  • That's probably one of the reasons that Darcel and most of the others left - they had class!

  • great hopefully we will see Nicole dance to Sk8er Boi by Avril Lavigne, or maybe Pam or Beverly or etc. dance to Buffalo Stance by Neneh Cherry, etc.
