  • @Babyhowdy233 after watching john Lennon's live studio performance with Chuck Berry elsewhere here on youtube I watched to 2 most out of tune musicians I may have ever heard, Chuck plays his solos out of tune and Lennon takes his solo in the wrong key & Lennons band are a bunch of un-melodic hippies that sound like they'd never played rock&Roll before(shoot that bass player),after watching all that i lost my respect for anything Lennon said.

  • The SHADOWS et Cliff : ils étaient et seront toujours au-dessus du lot...

Pour l'élite, pas pour les pecnauds...

  • Geeze, Elvis and Chuck are both incredible. Silly to argue that. I know Elvis did Chuck songs. I don't recall Chuck doing Elvis.

A tidbit, Chuck did his only number one My Ding A Ling in 1972. "Past his prime".

The rock and roll national anthem is "Johnny B Goode". Another song of Chucks, Elvis did. Chuck takes a back seat to nobody.

  • Here's another quote from John Lennon "Before Elvis, there was nothing"

and another from Lennon "My crushing ambition in life was to be as big as Elvis Presley"

  • "That's All Right" is the name of the first single released by Elvis Presley, written and originally performed by blues singer Arthur Crudup as "That's All Right, Mama". Elvis' version was recorded in July 1954, and released on 19 July 1954 with "Blue Moon of Kentucky" as the B-side.

Not only does this prove Elvis was making records before Berry, it also proves the essential pieces of rock n roll were put together and developed before he was known.

  • According to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Website "Elvis Presley is the undisputed King of Rock and Roll".

Undisputed King. That means #1! They also go on to say

"He followed this mid-career renaissance with some of the most mature and satisfying work of his career".

No one would ever say that about Chuck Berry's post 1968 material, he was well past him prime at that time!

  • I don't care what Koda wrote. what I care about are the facts. Without Elvis Presley knocking down the doors, acts like Berry and Richard would still be rememberd as great, but not as great as they are now. If Chuck Berry was so great then home come the bottom fell out of his career in the 60s and apart from a shity novelty song called my ding a ling, he never had another major hit. Presley had major hits in both the 60s and 70s, heck, he had more hits in the 70s alone than Berry ever had!

  • Yes Elvis was, Presley was making records before Chuck Berry, that is a fact!

  • No he didn't, he said Berry was the greatest songwriter in rock n roll, but he credited Elvis was his main inspration. He became a musicain because of Elvis, not Berry. As did both Paul McCartney and George Harrison.
