Sunday March 30 2008 04:30 UTC: Just got home from seeing the new movie 21 with the wife and I decided to fire up the QRP radio and see what was happening on 40 meters with this weekend's contest. My first contact was with 6Y1V, then I grabbed the camera and made this contact (number 2 for me in this contest) with YW4M GRUPO DX CARACAS Venezuela running 5 watts with my Yaesu FT-817ND into my Par Electronics End Fed 40 meter dipole at 12 feet. • another good catch!they really are great rigs.get an antenna thats respectable and up in the clear and you'll be amazed.not to say your set-up is anything shabby at all.qrp is cool!

  • I couldn't agree more, whether QRP or QRO, it is all about the antenna. The antenna used in these series of videos are all part of my portable station. The items are small, light weight and quick to set up. I do have a more elaborate system for my QRO shack. I will be adding many more videos to this series. I have a set of 3 that I have done that compare my FT-817ND to my IC-703+. Thank again for watching and 73.

  • I use the PAR Electronics End Fedz for 40,20 and 17m and have been very impressed with them. A 10m guyed fishing pole is used to support the 20m and 17m antennas and an inverted L on 40m with two poles. Running 80W on 17m we have worked South Africa from the UK. Hoping to do more with my 817 this year!
