I got into a conflict with a we'll just say A Form of an In Law about my voting prefence and I was told to leave the table because of the button I was wearing cause who I was voting for was a socialist...From what I have read it's like I work to buy gas from exxon and then BUSH gets a little extra money is that a form of it??? Iam lost

  • minarchy for the win!

  • I live in such a free country that I get to choose what happens to half of my income. The other half is taken from me. 25% is taken from me before I ever see it. The other 25% is taken in the form of real estate taxes, sales taxes on purchased goods (including food), luxury taxes, car taxes, personal property taxes, taxes on utilities (including water) and others. The government has decided I am not to be trusted in the expenditure of this half of my income, and uses it as it sees fit.

  • If I live in Washington D.C., murder capitol of the world, and I carry a Beretta on my hip to ensure my security, my registered firearm will be taken from me and I will be ordered to lie on my face on the ground, handcuffed, and put in jail on criminal charges of possessing a firearm in the District of Columbia. Fortunately, although I am not allowed to protect myself from murderers, my government takes $2,000 per year from me to defend me from third-world countries that have never attacked me.

  • Well let's not kid ourselves by thinking America is a land of freedom. It used to be, and the American people still retain more freedom than people in many other parts of the world. However, If I go to a park that I pay (whether I wish to or not) to maintain, and I say something a park ranger doesn't like, he can force me, under pain of imprisonment, to silence myself, unless I stand in the designated "free speech zone" near the entrance of the park, behind the bathrooms.

  • my dad has their firts pair of shoes whe he have 5 years old and the free hospitalcare save his life whe he have 15 and now hte capitalis are in my country and i oly see kids with hungry siks in the streets and the poverty is a cancer thats grows in the comunity because the big enterprises cut their jobs ...i really think you guys talk because don't know how is eat rice every day and cry without nobody helps ,but is nice see your freedom can give you free will and better life , good for you

  • Good, so we understand eachother.

  • Pure socialism is pretty wacky and is probably not going to be implemented any time soon. The governments of the countries I mentioned are hybrid capitalist-socialist governments, if America were to morph into any deeper socialist government, that's what it would be. I'd love to have a logical discussion, but statements like "Socialism is bad, no matter what kind" are dead ends and don't leave much room for any kind of discussion.
