WHY was this douche allowed to be a cop in another city? This video CLEARLY shows this guy has NO business being a cop. had that have been me as a cop I would have GLADLY taken him in to see his mother in law b4 she passed THEN settled whatever needed to be ttaken care of

Hey Cop shut thre fuck up, give the guy a ticket and let him go ASS HOLE!!!!
If it was you , because your a cop you all think you are above the law you would do the same thing. I'v seen a lot of cops run red lights, stop signs., Just to get to resturant to eat.

I think you're being overly dramatic when you say that Powell would have shot you. Although, I do agree with you that he was wrong in the moral sense. The thing is, if he would have stuck to his guns, not resigned, and they would have fired him, he would have had a great case to argue on appeal. I mean, do you think an independent arbitrator is going to uphold the termination for a cop who was fired because he enforced the law? Take emotion out of the argument here and think about it.

as long as there is no other dirt on him firing would have been hard. But if i was his boss i would have put him on foot patrol in the toughest part of Dallas if he didn't quit .

too many laws in this country

then we have the disturbing the peace BS laws to catch everything else.

unless you are the police using your siren to go through a red light so you can hit the donut drive-thru is disturbing the peace, but they do it , speeding on the highways without siren or lights for no emergency is breaking the law but they do it

Police= law enforcement, but 80% of them think think this makes them above the law.

Judgment is part of the job and Powell doesn't have it.

Disturbing the peace is not a bullshit law. Cops need laws like that to keep offenders in line. I do agree with you that judgment is a big part of a cop's job and that Powell's was questionable. What I think should have happened to Powell was that the chief should have given him a 10 day non-paid suspension for when Powell got on the radio and asked for dispatch to call the hospital and see if anyone "croaked" in order to verify Moats' story. That was a very unprofessional and insensitive

thing to say in front of the next of kin. Then I think the chief should have called him into the office and chewed his ass to a bloody rag over the whole mess. Finally, I think that Powell should have been required to complete some type of sensitivity training in order for him to understand that not everyone he deals with is a criminal. Then he goes back on patrol. I'm just saying he's only 25 years old. He could have learned a better way.
