This is the documentary film of the Dalai Lama 14th which has been shooting by Japanese crew.
　Continuing more than 6 year since Year 2002. Location in 3 countries with The Dalai Lama. 2 times（Year 2002&2003）location in Kalachakra. 3 times private interviews. Successful shots of His daily living at his residence in Dharamsara.
　Tibetan Buddhism leader, Lord of Tibet as nation, Novel peace prize holder, Teacher of humankind, none of these names tells his true existence. He is actually all of these, but sum of these never reveals this appearance. He is the wisdom of contemporary world.
　Not as historical figure, As a human being who struggle with todays conflicts and confusion also a Simple Monk who live his live thoroughly traditional religion in order for liberation from all religion, our project still has been going on to.

ドキュメンタリー映画「シンプルモンク」ダライ・ラマ法王14世

　2002年の撮影開始から7年以上、3カ国（日本・インド・アメリカ）にわたり、ダライ・ラマ法王14世を撮影。2002年、2003年には大灌頂カーラチャクラを映像に­収める。法王の単独インタビュー3回の他、貴重な日常風景の撮影に成功。
　世界各国で莫大な支持と期待を集めるダライ・ラマ法王14世。苦難の道を歩みながらも、平和主義（非暴力）を貫きとおしています。彼は、「人間の最終的な目的は、真実の意­味での幸福である。」「感情豊かな人間の価値と、心の平穏を伝えること。」「異なる宗教は異なる哲学を持ちながらも、実は同じ目的を語っている。力をあわせてお互いを尊重­し平和実現のため邁進できるはず。」「すべての宗教は、原点に回帰するときにきている。」とメッセージしています。
　ダライ・ラマとは、一体どんな人物なんだろう？法王の日常を覗いてみたい！彼の笑顔だけを見るために、はるか海をこえて会いに来る人々もいるほど。凛とした態度のなかで、­チベット仏教の最高指導者として尊敬の念で見られながらも、その反面、底抜けに明るいユーモアと思いやりに満ちたその少年のような笑顔は、すべての生きとし生けるものへの­慈しみと愛情を注いでくれています。
　今、不安が渦巻く先の見えない時代に、宗教や政治的な偏った立場からではなく、ダライ・ラマ法王の人間味溢れる魅力的な人物像を、淡々と描いていくドキュメンタリー映画で­す。この映画を製作することで、彼の本質を、来るべき時代への提言として遺したいのです。何のために信仰があるのか？生きるとは何か？死とは何か？を等身大のダライ・ラマ­法王を通して、日本だけでなく、世界中に問いかけたいと考えています。
