I heard this on a couple of radio stations in 1979 on the programmes to choose a record for their playlists (namely Beacon and Capital). I bought it, though it never hit the charts.
Melanie is now a music therapist in south London - check her out on Google.
I absolutely love this song - I bought the single years ago after seeing MH asa support act at Birmingham Uni. I've never remembered who the main act was - her voice was outstanding. Just this small woman and what seemed like a huge guitar. Lovely stuff!
@Greenockianx - could it have been Loudon Wainwright III she was supporting? She supported him at Oxford Polytechnic some time in the 1970s.
