This is so good!-thank you!! Along the lines of the language being part of the dance, there is often talk in the US of trying to standardize the names of the dance moves. Are there standard names for the moves in Arabic?

Thank you for reaching out and keeping it real, Karim you are one in a million, and info like this will stretch far into the minds of the dancer and their audiences

Is needed from arab dance & music teachers to speak to us (the west) as Karim Nagi does. Clearing things, saying things with the proper words, breaking the illusions. Thank you Karim for posting and clarifying things and terms :)

Great talk! Gives plenty of food for thought...
Tarik Sultan here:
You've articuated every point that I've been saying for years. There needs to be more involvement from the Arabic speaking community. On the flipside of this there needs to be participation by people who understand that the dance needs to be embraced and practiced as a form of cultural expression, not just a way to jump on the band wagon to make a quick buck either at restaurants or dance festivals in Egypt where if you bring a group you get to teach.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Thank you for posting this. The general public and the bellydance community needs more of this. I will repost this and use it in my curriculum. Thank you Karim!
