@Athaeus - The BBC did such a fantastic job of making the Krakatoa event come alive for us that I wanted other people to know about it. I'm glad you appreciated their effort!

@moiceonly, well Malays originally came from Indonesian, peoples from West Sumatra and Celebes have found state there.
Based on Atlantic Book:Finally Found" written by Prof Arysio; Krakatoa had destroyed Atlantic when its first eruption, drowned the continent and remained "small" Islands that is Indonesia. The Eruption came back at 1883. The volcanoe died but 6 months later he came back as named "Anak Krakatoa". Its still active till today.

@molceonly - Yeah, other people have said that the language is wrong on this one. I'm starting to wonder where the BBC filmed this... Cute and adorable baby in the profile pic, by the way!

Victims in Herculaneum were carbonized a second after surge hit them, how come some of these people got away with only burns? It's not like they had a better cover than the people on Herculaneum beaches.

Herculaneum was the closest town to Mt. Vesuvius. The pyroclastic flow that hit it was still very hot.
The Krakatoa surge had to travel 30 to 35 miles to the settlement over water and land. It cooled enough that 2/3rd of the people survived.
