Why did Erica kidnap Maria and Edmund's baby? Reply back ASAP!

Erica was pregnant in early 1997 and lost her baby after collapsing on her wedding day to Dimitri. She became suspicious of Dimitri & Maria, and then she decided to lure Maria to a remote cabin in the woods to interrogate her. Maria told the truth and went into labor, while Erica coldly watched. Erica had no choice but to deliver Maddie and when finished, she gave her away to a random woman, then later claimed Maddie died.

Actually, both Maria & Erica thought the baby had died after their car crashed near a river. Esther, the woman you mentioned, found the baby. Erica returned and discovered them in her trailer. Erica took the baby to return her to Maria. Mistaken that the baby was his, Dimitri told Maria that perhaps the baby's death was meant to be. Erica overheard this as she entered and was livid. Suffering from PPD provoked by her own miscarriage, a warped Erica posed the girl as her own adopted baby.

That's not what I was trying to do, someone said something like what I posted once and actually confused me a lot. If I only I knew who that was and told them to get their facts right instead of misleading(making me as well) others.

Thank you for the actual truth. Someone else on imdb or another board told a completely warped story and confused me when trying to make it as if Erica was being a hypocrite towards Babe in comparison to what she did in 1997(I don't like Babe). If only I could find out who said that(Urghhh!).

Erica broke my heart during this storyline. :( From losing her baby, to giving Maddie back. She absolutely have PPD and no one seemed to see it or care...especially Dimitri.
