jacqueline du pré was actually not playing a cello .... she was able to give her soul (and at least my soul) the materiality of a sound , incredibly true . What we hear is something you cannot contest , because it is not an interpretation , but simply the truth .

Papa Hayden was truly blessed by unnatural talent. Jacqueline was sublime.

This is a breathtakingly beautiful movement and a marvellous performance. Just listen how the soloist enters the fray at 1:08 with the whole orchestra and the sound grows... a masterpiece!
Am I the only one that hears the typical Mozartian slow movement melancholy here? Haydn really was a genius.

thank you jacqueline! it is not always that someone shares such beauty.

Stupenda Jacquelin du Pre. Che tragedia che sia morta tanto giovane! Le sue registrazioni resteranno per sempre. Grazie infinite
I miss her.

I'm not fan of Haydn, but this movement is very sensitive, romantic, ... The cadenza actually has rhythm and sounds of country o western music .. Beautiful piece
