The reason why this is better than anything today is because its about characters rather than plots. Beautifully written and marvellously acted(Terrys face when hes in the chair...).Also like all great British sitcoms its about middle-aged men whos dreams are out of reach, who are lost in a world they dont recognise and cant control-Fawlty,Brian Potter,Steptoes etc.Terrys trip round the world at the end of this clip is fantastic

terry and bob are great comedy characters .

The hairdressers is quintessentially 1970s!

@skinsuit2000 Thats a bit extreme. This series is much better than most of the shite we're presented with as 'comedy' on tv these days. James Bolam and Rodney Bewes, the stars of this excellent series were like all the other comedy actors of this era, talented and funny! unlike the fame hunting, untalented, and seriously unfunny rubbish we get stuck with now! Perhaps it's pointless to you cos they're not relying on swearing to get laughs like programmes have to today?

Absolutely superb writing here and so far ahead of its time. Whilst both characters are likeable and nostalgic for the past, always felt Bob represented the horrors of the Thatcherite 80's yet to come (she wasn't even party leader at this time)- an era of buying your council house and joining the squash club whilst Terry stood for the Wilsonite 1970's. Think Terry was right, the best days were already behind us.
