These two apple trees are aproximately 15 years old and were without pruning for about 10.
The decision to conduct such a severy prune of these long since unatended apple trees was made knowing that it would exceed the 30%. However, couting only the wood removal inside the tree, that quota would nearly be met, leaving the overpopulation, excessive growth and overlaping branches. I have excluded the dried-out branches, that had an important expression in the second apple tree.
I can still say that I avoided the ideal prune, just because I didn't want to demand everything from apple trees that, while they still produce fruit, were left to their good chances for far too long.

  • Looks like my apple tree minus the algae or moss... I got wonderful apples last year, but need to prune it badly.. it scares me to prune, what if I do it wrong.. Great music..

  • @snaps81625 I understand why you would hesitate. Consider the fact that by pruning you are in fact extending the tree's life. The correct way to prune is, as you know, of all importance and you would be wise to buy a book regarding the subject. For further "youtube lessons" on apple pruning, please search for stephenhayesuk videos here on youtube. I learned most of what I know from him.

  • So, what's the beautiful name of your theme song, here—I'd like to play It?

  • @phillipgaley It's Bach.

  • @phillipgaley My apologies, it's Bach's Air for G String.

  • Just pruned the featured apples trees today. Didn't make a video because I don't have as much free time as I did last year and I have to make each day as productive as I can. The trees are doing great, as I expected there was a lot of new growth, which I used to regenerate the tree. Meaning I cut out large branches from spaces that would now be occupied by finger-thick whips, won't have as many apples this year, but later on the tree will certainly pay me back for my troubles.
