Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems, or how to save the world through initiatives on the Social Network...

"Hello everyone. This is your friend Paul Silva. Today I am going to talk about how technology can solve the toughest problems in the world. How poverty and pollution can be eradicated and how high quality education and good health care services can be widely available to the masses and within everybody's reach.

If there is something we have learned from social media, is the power it has to provide us with answers and with viable solutions to the most diverse variety of issues we face everyday.

Given the fact that most of you are already familiarized with the use of these tools of social interaction, you will find that my proposal is not impossible, and very easy to carry out. All it takes to give life to this digital, revolutionary movement is a group of committed people willing to take the step forward and with the practical knowledge to maintain it.

Like every initiative, it must be organized.

Here is what I propose:

1) Use social media to develop a site where we can discuss in an open and democratic manner the different ideas brought by everyone.

2) Divide the proposals in the minimum quantity of main topics. For example: social issues, security issues, and economic issues, among others.

3) Organize the digital site based on these basic topics, and allow people to upload their ideas and solutions.

4) Allow members to submit their resumes and match their backgrounds and interests to the areas in need.

5) Establish mechanism to evaluate and choose the proposals. Trust me. The threads of discussions will shape themselves with the global contributions, which will eventually evolve into a concrete project of rescue.

6) Print the proposals and bind it in a handbook format. Write and edit it in a way anyone can understand. Distribute among involved communities that do not have access on-line. This handbook will be the lead that will guide the proposals. I suggest no more than 20 pages that go straight to the point.

Afterwards, this iterative process will repeat itself until it reaches perfection.

Are you ready to be part of the change?"

  • hahah XD

  • My viewer must be having problems as I had to read you script to understand the proposal. It's an interesting proposal. #6 creation and distribution of the proposal using paper is low tech enough to not only have portability, but also longevity. Good job with the production of the movie also. You have good, recognizable images to make the concept interesting. I just hope the technical issue with the audio is on my end.

  • Wow. That all sounds brilliant. I like it!

  • cool video!
