To about 99% of youtube viewers, this video is absolutely pointless. The only reason I uploaded it was because I did a school History Project on Hoovervilles during the Great Depression and a bunch of people wanted to see it.

True the new deal provided more jobs increasing dept, and he kept pumping money into the economy hoping it would go up when really he just inflated everything. because consumer confidence was in the drain no one would buy anything so pumping money was most like a fail. its theoretically possible he fixed but there is also a lot debate that he made it last longer. I DID THE RESEARCH. i am not saying either way because really i dont care but thats what the research says. :)

actually, you are wrong FDR made the "New Deal" and put out lots of jobs. the new deal had F.D.I.C. T.V.A. and if u search up "New Deal' you would be convinced that FDR saved america...and hoover tried but he looked at the economy at a different way and he was in denial. He also put up the firesite chats... DO THE RESEARCH and you will find out.....

Nice video! From my readings, this is fact as perceived by most people that know something and/or lived through the depression. WWII pulled us out of the Depression. Damn FDR and all that spending for the war machine. Hoover wanted the Church to take care of all the homeless, and the Hoovervilles was the results/insults to his policy.

ugh this is ripe with historical inaccuracies, there is no proof what so ever that FDR actually helped the economy in fact there is evidence that he made it last longer, the New Deal did dillitally squat for the economy. FDR just threw money out there but fact was everyone still saved it, so there was no spending because consumer confidence was still down. if he would of left it be it is more then likely we would have been just fine.

We have these springing up all over the UK at the moment, as Ian Smith, the DWP Minister has just cut housing benefits for disabled and unemployed below the market rent level, so there will be an estimated 250,000 homeless in London alone in the run up to the Olympics 2012! They are building shacks out of warehouse crates and living in tents in churchyards in Bristol and London, so I think loads of people will find this video interesting
