Sundog Sonet

As winter slipped into spring the West End residents of Vancouver were treated to one of the most intense solar Sundogs ever seen. For one hour English Bay was filled with magic.

Sun dogs are not uncommon in northern Labrador, and I think everyone here would agree with you, this is definitely not a sun dog, or parheleon. Sun dogs almost always appear as a pair with one on each side of the sun. They are very bright, not opaque white. They appear as a burst of light possibly tinged with a bit of color, often yellowish like the sun itself. They are said to foretell a coming death or to commemorate someone who has died.
