Some consider this the first punk song. Playing Joey's party, clearly an influence and just listen to the crowd. Jonathans amazing, saw him a few months ago and he is still great

Hi MrPatachou.
Sorry if I came across as confrontational ;-), it was not intended. I just so fondly remember that show at that intimate little club with maybe 250 people. When I saw Chris Spedding and John Cale up on that same stage, they could not wait to get the hell out of town (they were amazing on the musicianship scale, of course).
Maybe they just needed rent money.
Long live Jonathan Richman! The guy is rock'n'roll .

You use the double question mark to indicate that you do not believe me.
The whole club just sat and watched. Just him, one white light shining. Nobody expected a saxophone tour de force from Jonathan Richman. Perhaps you can ask around. I am sure if he did it at the Westward Club in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in the mid to late '80's (the date escapes me), he did it in other clubs.
The guy was just so humble and so talented. A true professional who loved the interaction with his audience.

Jonathan is so cool. I bought Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers in 1977 and never looked back.
1986 or so in a small club, I got kind of drunk and wandered on stage. Jonathan had just finished an incredible saxophone solo. Mesmerizing in its power and rock'n'roll grandeur.
He put his arm around my shoulder and said you need to get back to your friends, gently guided me off the stage. Just another night for Jonathan, but I remember how great he was and how cool he was.

yeah-I know he doesn't do drugs, but I forget, does he drink alcohol? Or is he no-drugs and no booze?
