The average American consumes 27 pounds of bananas every year. If you're not getting your fair share, try this classic drink—you'll catch up in no time.

To complete this How-To you will need:

1 c. ice
A blender
1 small banana
2 oz. light rum
2 tbsp. banana-flavored liqueur
1 tsp. lime juice
1 tsp. simple syrup
And a large cocktail glass, like a daiquiri or margarita glass

Step 1: Chill glass

Chill the cocktail glass by filling it with ice and water, and set it aside.

Step 2: Peel banana & break up

Peel the banana and break it into small chunks.

Tip: Simple syrup is just sugar boiled in water—but honey will work equally well.

Step 3: Empty glass

Empty the now-chilled cocktail glass.

Step 4: Add rum, liqueur, lime juice, & syrup

Pour in the light rum, banana liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup.

Step 5: Blend

Blend the ingredients for about 15 seconds, or until smooth and creamy.

Step 6: Pour & serve

Pour contents into the glass and serve.

Tip: If you're making a big batch of daiquiris, add the other ingredients to the blender first, then add in ice until the pitcher is full.

Step 7: Crush ice

Crush the ice in the blender.

Step 8: Put banana in blender

Place the small chunks of banana into the blender.

  • @teagan684 As a proud American... I AGREE :( <---- SAD FACE Most of us are quite proud of our waste piles and disgusting grease food traps. Our bowels must look like railtracks.

  • proud Icelander eating a banana

  • Top tip for banana daiquiri: freeze the banana. The consistency of the final drink improves because you need less ice (so less h2o in your drink).

  • not worth drinking and get supplies for it...

  • @teagan684 We're rich enough to waste shit, deal with it. Now shut the fuck up about Americans....I thought this video was about making a fucking drink, not your problems with Americans wasting fucking bananas and ice! I think Aussies waste too much vegemite and kangaroo meat, what do you think about that?

  • thats just a myth

  • I agree with the 'americans waste their resources' comment. But I've traveled around the globe and every bar and pub I've been to had chilled their glasses with ice and water. Even in the most environmental countries like Norway and iceland. ;)

  • absolutely, most blenders require that you do. Unless you got a Bentec Blender! lol
