Thank you. I will try and see what I can find out. I'm hoping that families can also get some sort of closure after the forthcoming court case in January 09 too. I wish everyone well. K

I was present, on the airfield, for 5 tests commencing in April 1958. The instant of detonation was almighty impressive and we certainly knew we had been present at 'the' big one. My orders warned that we could expect some damage, and we wore antiflash suits. But there was no question of the cloud lasting 3 days over the island etc. I did go via NY and SF.

friggin beautiful well done bud
The video portrays alot of all the things that are on my late fathers photo's. After 16 years in the RAF, this is all he has in his effects of a career he loved. Spoke all about other places he was at but no memorabillia to back up. He would never talk one bit to me about Christmas Island, but kept his plane ticket, force orders, photo's and various bits of paperwork. I'm very intregued to know what he had done there. Died aged 62. Had poor health problems. I would love to know the truth!!!!! K

Hello i'm sad to about your fathers experience's of Christmas Island. I don't know if he told you the name of the operation there was 'Operation Grapple' the Imperial War museum in london has stock footage you can request to see.

I was there on the Island, same period. I don't recognise half the things he said happened.

really! i would like to hear your memories of the experience, the additional footage was from a military archive of "Operation Grapple". Did you go via New York? and did you know what was happening on the island before or during?
