I contacted Major Bloomberg, the office of Gov. Pataki (at that time he was governor) and .... they told me that IT WAS LEGAL for the landlord to cut those trees even though the trees were a part of a Historical Landscape.
The reason? The trees were on private property....

What a scumbag. Why would he do that? Doesn't he need a city permit? Completely unprofessional job also...
