Interestingly enough, I found out that Jim Caviezel had expressed interest in playing CK/Superman in Returns shortly after doing Passion, but because he had gone from an unknown to a known as a result of doing Passion, Singer had to pass on him and keep looking for an unknown where he found Brandon Routh.
But that's okay, 'cause Jim already played the ultimate superman: Jesus Christ

Huh. I wonder if all the crap Jesus had to contend with while alive would be dramatically reduced if he went around playing the Superman theme (or a variation of it) as he went about his business?
