Slovenian Philosopher Slavoj Zizek on Capitalism, Healthcare, Latin American "Populism" and the "Farcical" Financial Crisis
Dubbed by the National Review as the most dangerous political philosopher in the West and the New York Times as the Elvis of cultural theory, Slovenian philosopher and public intellectual Slavoj Žižek has written over fifty books on philosophy, psychoanalysis, theology, history and political theory. In his latest book, First as Tragedy, Then as Farce, Žižek analyzes how the United States has moved from the tragedy of 9/11 to what he calls the farce of the financial meltdown.

  • @kidzed84 In Zizeks words: You shouldn't try to prove him wrong because then you will have sold your soul already. You should instead ask, were his hamster is

  • Zizek... marry me.

  • @murrchops

My reply was cogent, and although demonstrating a condescending tone, was infinitely more reasonable than outright ad hominems;)

  • @kidzed84 If you could actually come up with a sensible response to the points I bring up I wouldn't be laughing at your self aggrandizing gibberish.....LOSER........

  • @murrchops

You don't know anything, and yet seem to think this is a debate of equals. In this game of knowledge, you are the inferior opponent because you don't understand the basic (and i do mean basic) differences between right and left and their characterisation in political discourse.

  • @kidzed84 Tell them they're doing it wrong, I'm sure they are all so unhappy at being so oppressed, while you're at it you should tell the Chinese they've got it wrong as well and they should go back to their communal farms and factories. So you say the Swiss have it wrong as they have had a banking scandal and are not a libertarian state as they have a co-pay healthcare system? Are you actually trying to say Hong Kong was better off 30 years ago? What absolute rubbish...

  • @murrchops

Singapore: one party rule, and authoritarian.

HK: loss of public housing, services, and city council democracy in the last 30 years. Not to mention the much stricter rules on political parties since takeover.

Switzerland: just had a major banking scandal. Not to mention it has co-pay healthcare. Not entirely market economy.

Fascism according to Mussolini's definition is the convergence of the state and corporations. Pretty obvious how capitalism would play into that.

  • @kidzed84 explain how capitalism leads to fascism I can assure you it doesn't. If it was Singapore, Hong Kong and Switzerland would be becoming fascist. I think not....

What leads to fascism is governments destroying the money of a country, look at the assignats in France leading to Napoleon and the paper Deutsch marks of Wiemar leading to Hitler...

  • @murrchops

okay discredited means discredited. as in its overall critique and thesis have been thoroughly disproven.

left-libertarianism is actually the ORIGINAL concept of libertarianism. coined by joseph pierre proudhon to distinguish itself from mutualism. it is also known as anarcho-socialism.

Fascism is the road to serfdom. Capitalism leads to fascism. wiki it- if you are interested in libertarianism at ALL you should know its historical context.

  • @kidzed84 left libertarianism, you have to be joking with me, what the hell does that involve? The road to serfdom is basically correct socialism starts dictatorships. Dictators kill and torture people to stay in power.
