I believe I know how it's done; as you can see at the beginning, the guest was highly suggestive and easily hypnotized. knowing that, when Derrren saw the cards, he hypnotized the guest and told him what the cards are. after he's awaken, he will not remember this and he would guess the right cards.

This how I'd do it.

well , it's half ilusion half nlp . The ilusion part relyes in the ability to switch the 3 cards he randomly chosed from deck , with the 3 pre named cards . That's the part were the ilusion cames into place . IT is impossible to think that he would actualy pick those 3 cards from a random deck , so the only explenation is that no matter what 3 cards he would have chose , Derren woul dhave switched with 3 cards he allready planed .

The second part of the trick is to manipulate to say those 3.
