A small demonstration of my new airgun!

Video is made for HD and fullscreen viewing, spectacular impacts.

Credits to HalusaTwin - http://www.youtube.com/user/agentmoon for the awesome music!

Go to 2:19 to skip the explaination of the guns components.

- Weight: 4.6 kg
- Distance: 15 - 20 meters (cameras are all zoomed in)
- Pressure: 19 BAR
- Munition: 13mm Ball bearings only (steel marbles) which fit perfectly in the barrel
- Size piston: 1/2 in a 3/4 T-piece
- Barrel is easily removable and can easily be switched with a different one.

Questions:

- What is the white stuff I see when the metal plate gets shot?
-- Its paint that gets pulled off plate by the shock/impact of the projectile.

- Is it deadly?
-- Why do people keep asking...? the answer is YES.

- But it would take so much time to fill it with air and cock it you can only do one shot each time.
-- Not true, I made it so I can attach a paintball or even a diving bottle. When I cock the gun and open the air supply, the piston slides back foreward and the gun is ready to be used again. Minimum time between 2 shots under optimal conditions are estimated around 15 seconds.

- What is the velocity of the projectile?
--I don't have the tools to measure that sorry.

- How does the piston valve work?
-- Like the one MrRedRooster made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apSA_ny8DgM

  • Good job bud. If I'm being picky, though, I'd replace the copper pipe with stainless, and reinforce the length with a long piece of metal and a couple of brackets. I'd also (I know, no longer compact) mount the cylinder horizontally, and maybe attach a permanent cocking trigger, instead of using a tool. WELL DONE though. :)

  • @aj863 Thanks for the advice but it is a bit too optimistic in my opinion. Unless you know an affordable way to obtain a stainless pipe with the right bore and smooth inside surface.

  • nice video and airgun, but i have aquestion: where is the exhaust used for ?

  • @turbotonic27 The exhaust is used to create a pressure difference between the backside and front side of the piston. This will create a force that moves the piston backwards and the air that remains in the airtank will now go through the barrel. Here is a piston valve explaination: /watch?v=apSA_ny8DgM

  • @turbotonic27 ok,thnx, but that woud make it loose psi (power) ?

  • @turbotonic27 No, it doesnt because it opens very fast. The amount of air that escapes through the exhaust is very small.

  • super sayan 3 air rifle!!!

  • @aj863 I was just trying to answer your question. I use a 400psi bicycle shock pump to fill my tank through a schrader type valve. There is a larger shock pump made by AIRACE, rated to 300psi, which is a stirrup pump, but fills my tank 15 times faster. It cost about £70 though.

  • @johnny771977 Hi, did you perhaps reply to the wrong person there? Though I was curious about where you can get pressure cylinders filled.

  • @aj863 I agree that getting the right barrel size for differnt ammo is HARD WORK - it involves trial and error, you may spend or waste a lot of money, but you will be happy when you succeed. Find out about brass tubes, use them as inserts if the barrel is a bit big for the ammo.

  • @aj863 For air tank reserviors, these can be made by fitting various pipe fittings, reducers, nipples etc.

You can make a reservior from an old paintball bottle. For 1/2 BSP FITTINGS, first unscrew the pin valve from the bottle (hard work), then drill out the cavity with an 18mm drill. File the cavity down to widen the internal diameter to about 18.2 - 18.4mm. Then tap the hole out with a 1/2 bsp tap.

Screw in a 1/2 bsp equal male fitting into the bottle with pipe sealant. DONE.

  • @aj863 You can get stainless steel pipe on ebay. Just look hard. It involves trial and error - you may waste a bit of money.

3/4 stainless steel tube (grade 304) with 1.5mm wall thickness is perfect for marbles. For other tubes, you may need to stick brass tube inserts into the tube that have an INNER DIAMETER (not outer diameter, please note) almost exactly equal to the ammo diameter.

Marbles are very good if you have the right barrel bore.

  • @Crash29930 In my experience, all stainless has a smooth bore. I did realise ammo may be a problem, but it shouldn't be to difficult to make/find something suitable.

Do you get more accuracy using darts, or alternate ammo?

Also, where did you get your cylinder, and how did you get it filled???

  • Holy shit great job!!!! One of the best airguns iv seen :)
