Oaxaca teachers strike
ndeed, protesters have taken control of the downtown area, erecting barricades fashioned out of burned-out buses and tires. Activists say such extreme measures are needed to protect themselves from paramilitary groups created by Ruiz, who has told reporters throughout the conflict that "no pasa nada," or "nothing is happening."
