  • how come the coots weren't flying away? i'm assuming they can't fly? or they could have dived away? but it just looks like no matter how hard they tried, they could't get any far away from the eagle? hahahahaha

  • I was wondering that myself.. Fly away?? I also saw the same thing happen again this year on the lake, but with a Immature eagle, which took 45 minutes for it to get one. Flying away seems like it would have saved you, but oh well..

  • Ohh, una cosa, por que en blanco y negro? =TRANSLATE= Ohh one thing, Why in black and white?

  • Not in black and white... just looks like it I guess, with the snow and all..

  • Stupid armyboy06, he asked what was the animals the eagle was attacking. What kind of bird I guess he wondered.

  • Ahh.. Well thank you for the REAL translation... They are called "Coots" a kind of bird.. Waterfowl, like a duck, but not considered a duck..

  • @kevinthao2010 Coots spend their whole migration about 5 feet off the ground. They dont dive very good either.

  • @kevinthao2010 it's a natural response for waterfoul to stay on the water when a bird of prey is in the air. They can't out fly a falcon, and they treat all birds of prey the same. My dad is a falconer and when the bird's in the air the waterfoul hug the water like this, and usually try to find cover too, it's hard to find cover in a larg lake....other than the lake itself.

  • They can't but they calculate the time they can stay on the water. just a few minutes.

  • wow since when can eagles swim

  • The reason they don't fly away is because they wont last a second in the air. They instinctively know they are protected just as long as they stay on water. That was one hungry eagle to have landed on the water. They usually pluck pray out on the wing but the coots are very agile and don;t make " sitting ducks"

  • he's having a hard time catching one

  • That senile coot.

  • ok, well i apologize, that was a direct result of a bad google translation my bad lol

  • WICKED

  • The title said "eagle killer" and I kept expecting someone to shoot the eagle for trying to kill the coots. :)
