A very random day at the tunnel, I thought It would be a good idea to go down because it's supoosed to be Baths busiest Freight day! But It was very disappointing. The weather, at times, was so bad it was difficult to see.
I seen 4 freight between 10.00 and 17.00 with one of them being twice!
66106 with 6B65 Westbury-ADJ, and then returning later with 6C41 ADJ-Westbury. 66138 Heads 6V62 Fawley-Tavistock Tanks and 66186 has control over 6C83 Machen-Westbury.
A tamper also turn't up with a fantatic 2tone! (At the end of the video).
Plenty of the usual HSTs, 158s, 150s, 153s, 143s and 159s.
One service in particular made me laugh, as it was a FGW service to Weymouth, although it was made up of 2 150s, one in Arriva livery and the other in Silverlink! Well done FGW!
A few 2tones during the day, the drivers don't seem to be like they used to be lately..

  • Heh glad to know I wasn't the only one to get caught in the rain while videoing yesterday :)

Great vid nonetheless, it shows the wide variety of liveries to see around there!

  • Yay! I'm glad it wasn't just me either! And thanks!

  • you dont see much of the tamper. engine does sound funny aswell as the 2tone it gave :-P any idea whats powering it? another thing, i think its strange that you can only hear the rumbling and the scream from the mtu engines from the side facing the tunnel :-S anyway amazing video! 5/5

  • As to what's powering the Tamper, I have no idea! But I can answer the other question :P, Basically it's because the trains coming out the tunnel are accelarating from speed restriction, whereas the ones going into the tunnel are shuting off as they are near to the approach to Bath Spa. Hope that helps :)
