PS3: Flashing Red Light Overheating Thermal Paste Issue

If your PS3 flashes green, yellow, and blinking red when you try to turn it on then that means your thermal paste has worn away and the PS3 won't turn on because it is overheating and cannot keep the CPU and GPU on the motherboard cool enough from melting.

So is this the first time you have taken it apart to fix it?You should have opened it sooner and replaced that crappy old paste a year ago....I really would not recommend the heat gun fix...unless you are trying retrieve stuff from the HDD...then go for it...other wise send it out for a proper fix...re-ball..is the only permanent solution after YLOD...

@mrbobdog707 I dunno what was wrong with it, but applying new paste didn't fix it. I ended up trading in all the games I don't play anymore and buying the Uncharted 3 320gig Bundle at Gamestop.

I was out of warranty and sick of messing with it. I just sucks because my old PS3 was fully backwards compatible. Now I have to bust out my PS2 if I want to play an old game.

@metalhaze removing the GPU and replacing BGA's with new ones....ball graph array....this what connects it to mother board.
