Barnsley FC versus Portsmouth 1980's

Let me tell you this was a bitterly cold day. It might look like a great wintery scene down at Oakwell but I needed two days to thaw out after watching this one.

Something you just don't see these days. Not just snow on a football pitch but just snow!

After being served up some great football just a few years before we then had to endure some real mediocre matches. That said there were still a couple of good Barnsley players around at the time including goalkeeper Baker, centre back Paul Futcher, winger Gordon Owen and one player that didn't play on the day utility man Stuart Gray. The latter could play anywhere, a real quaility footballer. How ever he ended up at Oakwell I'll never know.

Yes, scarves, leggings the lot. I heard that Mick McCarthy made a comment the other week saying that if anyone had run out like that at Oakwell in his day, they would have got a good kicking!
