Learning To Let Go Follow Up [LAST ONE!]

I was standing in the wings of the stage watching my dad and uncles put on another amazing show. They never cease to amaze me. I’ve seen them perform millions of time and every time I get emotional. This is all I’ve ever know. All 18 years of my life. I am amazed at how they could still pull off what they do. They are truly my heroes. Knowing that they are in their thirties, been together in a band for about 20 years , and still have fans from every generation only lights the fire in my heart even more. I look up to my dad. He has a great head on his shoulders and his wisdom of the business has only made it easier for me to break into it. I don’t want to get into music just because of my last name. I want people to know me for the passion I have. Like my grandpa always says ‘live like you’re at the bottom even if you’re at the top’. As they finished their classic hit I looked over at my brother who smiled and winked at me. I looked back and saw my mom who came over and gave me a hug.

[Sam]: break a leg baby girl.

My gramps and nana [grandma] came over and gave me a hug as well. Aunt Jessica and tiffany couldn’t make it cuz of their crazy kids but they gave me their love and support before I went on the road. I was happy to know that my mom and brother flew all the way out from California to see me and my dad and uncles perform our first show of our tour in New York. I stood in the wings and took a deep breath. I looked up and whispered I love you to my aunt Lexi.

[Kevin]: ok guys do we have an amazing surprise for you.
[Joe]: today is an important day for the jonas family.
[Nick]: we have a special guest performer.
[Kevin]: and you may have heard her sing before but that was as a little girl while she was on tour with us a while back.
[Joe]: but you guys havent really heard all that shes got.
[Kevin]: so it would be my honor to introduce my beautiful daughter alexis!

As I walked onto the stage I could literally feel the screams of the fans surround my body. I was so nervous and had a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach. I hugged my uncles and went over to my dad. Seeing his face light up only made me want to cry. He kept his arm around me and held on tight.

[Kevin]: ok honey bee. You ready?

I nodded my head yes but inside I was ready to run.

[Nick]: but before we start we have a surprise for you.

I was shocked. I didn’t see this coming.

[Joe]: munchkin…youre not a munchkin anymore and it makes me sad.

He made one of those puppy dog faces that always won me over.

[nick]: but we have to realize that you are a young lady now.
[Kevin]: and my little girl is all grown up.
[Joe]: so I’m gonna do what I havent done since you were 6. [began to play that coldplay song]

When I heard them start playing my favorite song in the whole world I couldn’t help but cry. I had not heard that song since I was little. My uncle Joey always used to play it for me when I was upset. When they finished I smiled and hugged them all tight. My dad walked off stage and my uncles sang happy birthday to me with the crowds help. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed my dad come out with a cake. Oh no I thought to myself. And of course with out disappointing me my dads butterfingers dropped the cake. I literally fell on the floor laughing with my uncle nick. You think my dad would learn how to hold onto a cake after 20 years. After all was said and done they walked off stage and it was just me. Just me, a piano, and a single spotlight. There was no turning back. It was quiet for a few seconds as I tried to regain some confidence and then I felt a sudden feeling of love. I knew it was her helping me and watching over me. I smiled sighed and spoke into the mic.

Lexi: hi. You guys already know I’m Lexi. I just want to start off by saying thank you so much for supporting my dad and uncles in doing what they love. As some of you may know I had an aunt Alexis who passed away a long time ago. I want to dedicate this to her. Its originally her song and it has helped me through some hard times. Big props to my uncle DJ DANGA! Hahaha he taught this song to me when I was little and it was always close to my heart. I hope you guys enjoy it and it hope it sparks something in you like it did in me.

I began to play the song and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was truly the most amazing night of my life. When I finished I looked over to the wings of the stage and the look on my family’s eyes was all I needed. Best…birthday…ever.

Ok guys. This is really the LAST CHAPTER. We must move on! Be strong!!! Hahaha now I am off this weekend to write away like I never have before! Hahaha cant wait for the new series!!! LOVE YA GUYS.
